Car Accident On Route 31 In Crystal Lake, Illinois

There was an accident today (Thursday, May 16) on Route 31 in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

According to Crystal Lake Police, the driver told them his brakes failed as he was driving northbound on Route 31 at approximately 4:27 p.m.  The driver jumped from the car;  the car then crashed into a utility box near Route 31 and Brighton Lane.

The driver, Evan T. Hoeltje, 21, of McHenry, Illinois was taken to a local hospital, having suffered minor injuries.

Multi-Vehicle Accident On Tri-State Tollway In Lake Forest, Illinois

The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Patch.com published a story today (“Three ejected From Van During Crash“) concerning a three-vehicle accident on the Tri-State Tollway near Route 60 in Lake Forest.

The accident involved a van that lost control for some unknown reason, and was hit by a semi truck.  Although three people in the van were ejected during the accident, none were seriously injured.  There were also two other people injured.

Train Collides With Car In Grayslake, Illinois

There was a collision between a freight train and SUV on Wednesday, May 8, in Grayslake, Illinois.  The driver of the SUV was hospitalized following the accident.

The accident happened at approximately 1:45 p.m., near the intersection of Route 83 and Route 137.

The train, which was heading northbound, struck the automobile on the car’s driver side.

The car’s driver was taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois, with minor injuries.

Hit & Run Accident In Highland Park, Illinois

There was a hit & run accident on May 2 in Highland Park, Illinois.  The accident happened at Sheridan Road and Elm Place at approximately 9:05 p.m.

The accident happened as a pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian struck was a 77-year-old woman from Chicago, who was visiting relatives.

The car involved was later identified via car parts that were left at the accident scene;  the car was located at a Northbrook auto repair shop on Friday morning.

A 73-year-old Northbrook woman, Lynne Davis, has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and leaving the scene of an accident.

Fatal Bicycling Accident In Unincorporated Lake Villa, Illinois

There was a fatal bicycling accident today in unincorporated Lake Villa, Illinois.

The woman who died following the accident has been identified as Anna Harvey, 34, of Lindenhurst, Illinois.

According to one media source on the accident, the Chicago Tribune article of May 2, 2013, titled “Bicyclist killed in Lake County accident” :

At about 2:15 p.m., a 2000 Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Route 45, north of Grand Avenue in unincorporated Lake Villa, collided with the Harvey who also traveling southbound on Route 45, according to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff’s department.

She was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured during the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
