11-Year-Old Boy Dies After Bicycling Accident In Round Lake Heights, Illinois

On Wednesday night, May 30, an 11-year-old boy was struck by a car in a Round Lake Beach, Illinois intersection.  The boy later died from the injuries he sustained during this accident.

The boy, Jose Antonio Zamudio, was crossing traveling across Lotus Drive at West Rollins Drive when he was struck by a car at 6:24 p.m., according to authorities.

He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead at 7:29 p.m.

According to Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey, a preliminary examination indicates Zamudio died of massive head trauma.

Round Lake Beach Police have stated that witnesses say the car had the “green light” at the intersection before striking the boy, who was headed south through the intersection.
