Further details are emerging regarding a 6-car accident on I-94 near Deerfield, IL on Thursday, January 12. A woman involved in the accident, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Collins, 19, died a day after the accident.
Details on the accident are still limited, and vary among news sources. In addition, the accident is still being investigated.
However, it is being reported that the accident happened around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, the day of the first heavy snow of the season. The weather appears to have been a factor in the accident.
Collins was traveling in the northbound lanes of I-94. A semi truck was attempting to avoid a 3-car accident, and in the process hit Collins’ car, a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Collins’ car then hit a Ford pickup parked on the highway’s left shoulder. As a result, Collins was pinned inside her vehicle.
