According to ABC7 News, in a May 26 article titled “8-year-old injured in hit-and-run outside school” Chicago Police are looking for a Hit & Run driver who struck a second grader on the Far South Side.
Maurice Collier, 8, was hit by the car while being dropped off in front of Aldridge Elementary School, located on East 131st Street. This happened around 8:40 a.m Wednesday.
Maurice is in serious condition with bleeding in the brain at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. The vehicle involved was a white car.
According to Maurice’s mother, Catherine Collier, “He has head trauma to the brain. It is serious.”
Witnesses say the second grader darted out from between cars right as he headed to school across from his home.
