Boy Hit By Minivan At Gurnee School

There was a vehicle accident on Wednesday (August 7, 2013) involving a man whose minivan hit a boy at a Gurnee school.

The man was making a delivery at Woodland School in Gurnee, when he hit the accelerator instead of the brakes as he was backing up the minivan.  The minivan then ran into a set of doors which a boy and his father had just gone through, pinning the 11-year-old boy underneath.

The Gurnee Fire Department had to extricate the student, who was then taken to  Advocate Condell Medical Center, in Libertyville, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the minivan, Jae Kong, 67, of Mount Prospect, has been ticketed for negligent driving.

Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the August 8 Lake County News-Sun article titled “Driver of van that hit boy, school charged” as well as the TribLocal Grayslake & Gurnee August 8 article titled “Man who crashed into school, injuring boy, cited for negligent driving.”
