Ingleside Car Rollover Accident Critically Injures Man

There was a car rollover accident Thursday morning (November 23, 2017) in Ingleside.

According to information provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in a November 23 media release titled “Critical Ingleside Traffic Crash,” Lake County Sheriff Deputies responded to the accident at 10:23 a.m.  The accident scene was in the vicinity of Route 134 and West Venetian Drive.  The preliminary accident investigation findings indicate that a 2016 Dodge Dart had been traveling eastbound on Route 134 at the time of the crash.  The crash occurred when the Dodge Dart first left the roadway, traveling onto the south shoulder, before the driver “overcorrected,” thereby crossing into the westbound lane and then driving off the roadway to the north.  After leaving the roadway the car rolled over.

The driver, currently only identified as a 33-year-old man from Round Lake, had to be extricated from the car.  He was then taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of critical injuries.

The traffic accident investigation is being conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.

Car Accidents On November 10 Caused By Slick Roadways

There was light snowfall throughout the Chicago area on Friday (November 10, 2017).  The snowfall – the first of the season – along with cold conditions caused slippery conditions.  Many, if not most streets, were not plowed or salted.

Many car accidents occurred, including spinouts, cars leaving the roadway, and collisions with fixed objects.  Some of these accidents happened in Lake County.

In Northbrook, slick conditions led to multiple cars in a ditch on US-41 Skokie Highway’s southbound ramp to westbound Lake-Cook Road.

An overturned vehicle was reported on Route 53 North at Palatine Road.

Accidents were also reported in Bartlett at Naperville Road and Lake Street, as well as in Libertyville on I-94/I-294 southbound at IL-176/Rockland Road. The Libertyville crash has been moved to the shoulder.

Police Car “Rear-Ended” By Another Car In Lake Zurich

There was a car accident (“rear-end collision”) early Sunday morning (November 5, 2017) in Lake Zurich in which a Lake Zurich police car was “rear-ended” by another car.  In turn, that Lake Zurich police car ran into the police car ahead of it.  The accident happened at approximately 12:34 a.m. at Route 12 and Wooded Ridge Road.

Both of the Lake Zurich police cars had been involved in a traffic stop and parked behind another vehicle at the time of the crash.

An excerpt regarding the “rear-end collision,” from the Daily Herald article of November 6, 2017 titled “Lake Zurich police officer injured in crash during traffic stop“:

During the traffic stop, he said, a 2009 Ford Flex traveling on Route 12 struck the rear of the backup officer’s vehicle and pushed it into the other squad car, where the officer who initiated the traffic stop was sitting in the driver’s seat.

The police officer of the “rear-ended” police car was hurt, and the injuries were treated at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Lake Barrington.  The injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office cited Hector G. Marin, 54, of the 600 block of Minerva Avenue in Wauconda, for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, Hoops said.

Woman Dies After Libertyville Car Crash

There was a fatal car accident Friday afternoon (October 27, 2017) in Libertyville.  According to information provided by the Libertyville Fire Department, the accident happened in a subdivision near Carter Street and Crane Boulevard.

The crash involved a 64-year-old woman from Libertyville crashing the car into a tree.  It is unknown as to why the crash occurred.

The woman had to be extricated from the car, which had caught on fire, and was then taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center.  She was pronounced dead a short time later.  She was later identified as Terri Vanderwerff, 64, of Libertyville.

The accident remains under investigation by the Libertyville Police Department, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Nine People Injured When SUV Crashes Into Waukegan Restaurant

There was a car accident in Waukegan Saturday afternoon (October 21, 2017) involving a SUV that backed into a restaurant.  Nine people were injured, including three people who suffered critical injuries.

An excerpt regarding the crash, from the October 22, 2017 Daily Herald article titled “Nine injured when vehicle crosses into Waukegan restaurant“:

Authorities responded about 12:30 p.m. to the 1400 block of Washington Street, where a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Waukegan resident Constella Turner, had backed into the front of Toluca’s Restaurant. Police did not give an age for Turner, but described her as “elderly.”

According to the Waukegan Police Department, both Turner and her passenger, identified as a young child, were taken to the hospital for treatment of their accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

Seven people who were in the restaurant were also injured.  Of the seven, two adults and a young child were hurt and had critical injuries; two other adults and two children suffered injuries considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

According to Waukegan Police, Constella Turner was issued citations for improper backing and reckless driving.
