Fatal “Head-On Collision” On Route 120 In Grayslake

“Head-on collisions” are among the types of crashes that typically cause serious accident injuries, as well as fatalities.  In most cases this type of crash happens after one vehicle “crosses the center line” and collides with an oncoming vehicle.

There are many reasons as to why the accident injuries associated with these types of crashes are typically serious in nature, and often life-threatening.  Strong physical forces as well as all vehicle occupants being subject to highly unnatural forces contributes to the severity of accident injuries.  The subject of “head-on collisions,” especially those that occur in Lake County, is further discussed on the “Accidents Involving ‘Head-On Collisions‘” page.  As discussed on that page, there are many reasons why such collisions can occur, and there are various steps one should take following an accident injury, including steps to protect one’s health and legal rights.

There was a fatal “head-on” crash on Route 120 in Grayslake on Monday (January 29, 2018) morning.

According to information provided by the Grayslake Police Department, police were alerted to the crash at 10:56 a.m.  The accident scene was on Route 120 west of Belle Court.

An excerpt regarding the crash, quoting Grayslake Police Chief Phil Perlini, as seen in the January 29, 2018 Lake County News-Sun article (with accident scene photo) titled “One killed in Grayslake crash on Route 120“:

According to Perlini, preliminary information indicated the driver of a Toyota Echo was traveling westbound on Route 120 when they crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane. They were then struck by a Honda CRV that was eastbound, he said.

According to the Grayslake Fired Department, it took rescuers between 10 to 15 minutes to extricate the victims, and both were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where one driver was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

Subsequently, the driver of the Toyota Echo who died was identified as Katherine Foxe, 63, of Wisconsin.

The accident investigation continues.  It is currently undetermined as to why the vehicle went into the opposing lanes.
