“Hit & Run” Vehicle Accident In Highland Park

“Hit & Run” accidents continue to be a major problem throughout the Chicago area.  On this site, accidents in which a driver leaves the accident scene are summarized in the “Hit & Run” category.

There are many reasons that drivers may wish to flee the scene of an accident.  One such reason is that they may fear the legal repercussions of their actions if they caused the accident.

Many “Hit & Run” drivers have been driving after drinking (DUI).  Other drivers may be traveling in a stolen vehicle or otherwise be involved in criminal activity, and thus do no want to become involved with law enforcement.

On Tuesday afternoon (January 31, 2017) there was a “Hit & Run” accident in Highland Park, at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West.

According to various media sources, police officers determined that the car that fled the accident scene had been stolen in Zion.

The occupants of the vehicle were later apprehended by Highland Park Police in the 2900 block of Summit Avenue, which is in the northern part of the city.

Additional details and possible updates regarding this Lake County accident in which a vehicle fled the accident scene can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the January 31, 2017 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Police:  Suspects captured after Highland Park hit-and-run crash” as well as the January 31 Deerfield Patch article titled “Hit-and-Run Causes School Lockdown in Highland Park.”
