“Chain-Reaction” Accident Kills A Woman On Jane Addams Memorial Tollway

A 20-year-old woman was killed around 1:00 a.m. this morning during a car accident.  The accident occurred on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway, a short distance from the Devon Toll Plaza in the westbound lanes.

Details on the accident seem limited at this time.  Apparently it was a “chain-reaction” crash, with two vehicles being struck from behind by a minivan as they were waiting in traffic while approaching the tolls.  The impact tossed a female passenger from one vehicle;  seven others in the three vehicles were also injured.  None of the seven injuries was serious.

The woman killed, Anacain Agular-Lopez, was pronounced dead at 3:20 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

According to the State Police, the 40-year-old driver of the minivan was cited for speeding and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
