According to the May 15 version of “The Highlander,” (pdf) the monthly newsletter of the City of Highland Park, Illinois, there are new regulations regarding cellular devices.
The full ordinance amendment can be found in the newsletter; the following is an excerpt:
On January 24, 2011, the City Council amended the Distracted Driving Ordinance to require all motorists driving in Highland Park to utilize cellular devices in a hands-free mode while operating a vehicle. This ordinance amendment will take effect on June 1, 2011, and is intended to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists.
Also in the newsletter on page 5 is an article titled “Motorists and Bicyclists Reminded of Proper Methods to Share the Roadway.”
