Deerfield, Illinois Car Accident Sends Two Drivers To Hospital

On Monday, May 2, a two-car accident caused two people to be sent to the hospital.

The accident occurred in Deerfield, Illinois on Waukegan Road, in front of Deerfield Mall.

Deerfield police were responding to a medical call just before 3 p.m. at the Deerfield Red Roof Inn, 340 S. Waukegan Road, when a Jeep turning onto Waukegan Road collided with one of the squad cars, according to Capt. Tim Cassidy of the Northbrook Fire Department, which also was responding to the medical call.

The woman who was driving the Jeep was transported to Highland Park Hospital, and the Deerfield police officer was transported to Lutheran General Hospital, Cassidy said.

Their injuries appeared non-life threatening, said Northbrook Fire Department District Chief Dan Quinn.

Several squad cars were traveling down Waukegan Road when the Jeep turned out of a Best Buy parking lot and collided with one of the police vehicles, James said.

He added that the woman who was driving the Jeep was outfitted with a neck brace, but she appeared to be moving.

The impact of the crash caused extensive damage to the front ends of the squad car and the Jeep, as seen in the photos. The Jeep’s front driver-side wheel also broke off the axle.
