There was a car accident Monday night (June 24, 2013) in Gurnee, Illinois that happened during the course of a drag race. One teenage girl died as a result of this street-racing accident.

As the two cars were racing eastbound on Route 120, one of the drivers – driving a 2004 Honda Civic – lost control of his car. The car then went “airborne” before rolling over and landing in the median ditch.
The Civic had four occupants. Two of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

Another occupant ejected was a 20-year-old male. He was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition. Also injured and taken to Condell were two males ages 17 and 18 years old.
The drivers of both vehicles were arrested, according to Gurnee Police.
