There was a fatal Lake County car accident in Mundelein on Sunday, December 22, 2013.
The fatal car accident happened when two cars collided on Route 60 (Townline Road) east of Route 45. A BMW 318ti was traveling west on Route 60, and hit the driver’s side of a Toyota Corolla, which was exiting a shopping center parking lot.
The accident happened at approximately 5:15 p.m.
Eric O’Campo, 34, of Zion, the driver of the Corolla, died after the traffic accident.
A passenger in the Corolla, Irma Martinez, 36 of Zion, was injured. She was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the BMW was identified by police as Russell Sternal, 24, of Mundelein. He wasn’t hurt during the car accident.
This Lake County car accident is under investigation. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is assisting with the investigation.
