There was a fatal car accident this morning (December 20, 2013) on I-294 in Deerfield, Illinois.
The accident happened at approximately 2:46 a.m. when – for an unknown reason – a woman driving an SUV lost control of the vehicle where I-294 meets the entrance to Edens Expressway.
An excerpt from the December 20 Daily Herald article titled “Libertyville woman dies in crash” :
(Illinois State Police Sgt.) Clemente said Esposito veered off the roadway and up a concrete embankment under Lake-Cook Road, striking underneath the overpass before rolling back down and coming to rest partially on the ramp and a grassy area.
The driver was identified as Valerie Esposito, 45, of Libertyville. She was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
