On Wednesday night, a motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car in Libertyville, Illinois that led to his death.
The motorcyclist, William Thedorf Sr., 79, of Mount Prospect, was the motorcyclist that died from his injuries.
The accident happened at approximately 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. Thedorf was riding southbound on Route 45. As he approached the intersection of Winchester Road and Route 45, a Volkswagen car, driven by an 18-year-old man from Mundelein, made a left-hand turn into Theodorf’s path. The driver of the car apparently had been waiting for a “no-left hand turn” signal (activated by a passing train) and when it did deactivate, the driver made the left-hand turn.
The impact of the collision caused Thedorf to be ejected from the motorcycle. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, with severe trauma. He was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m. Thursday morning.
The driver of the car was not injured.
No charges have yet been filed; the accident is still under investigation.
