There was a fatal Lake County pedestrian accident on Friday (October 25, 2013) in Waukegan, Illinois.
The accident happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, on Waukegan’s North Side.
According to various media reports, a car went out of control in the vicinity of Sunset Avenue and Oneida Roads, and upon leaving the roadway, struck two pedestrians.
The two pedestrians sustained serious injuries and were taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville. One of the pedestrians, identified as a male, died this morning from injuries sustained; the other pedestrian is expected to survive.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Aaron B. Stoen, 26, of Twin Lakes, WI. He admitted to using heroin before the accident.
According to the Waukegan Police Department, Stoen was charged with one count of reckless homicide; two counts of aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm; one count of aggravated DUI causing death; and various other traffic and drug-related offenses.
