Lake Bluff Police Car “Rear-Ended” By Driver

A Lake Bluff Police car was “rear-ended” early this morning by a vehicle whose driver was later arrested for DUI.

The accident happened as Lake Bluff and Lake Forest Police were patrolling the area around Route 137 and Waukegan Roads in response to a report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department that a SUV had hit a pole near the intersection of Route 137 and Waukegan Road.  The SUV they were looking for then “rear-ended” the Lake Bluff Police car at Carriage Park Lane, and fled the accident scene.

Lake Forest Police eventually pulled over the SUV, which reportedly was driven by Sarah Soto, 32, of Great Lakes.  According to Lake Forest Police, she was arrested for offenses including driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and endangering the life of a child.  According to police, she had a blood alcohol level of .248.

The Lake Bluff Police Officer whose car was struck was released today from Lake Forest Hospital, after being treated for minor injuries.
