As seen on this site, there have been many reasons as to why car accidents as well as other vehicle accidents occur in Lake County.
One of the reasons for car accidents is if suspects are fleeing from police. Often, in doing so, these drivers will drive at excessive speeds as well as otherwise drive recklessly. Such reckless driving often puts these drivers, as well as other motorists, at great risk for a crash. As seen in many such incidents in the Chicago area, crashes do occur, and some cause serious if not fatal accident injuries.
Two recent car crashes in Lake County – one in Highland Park and one in Volo – involve drivers that were allegedly fleeing from police at the time of the accidents.
The first car accident, that happened in Highland Park on September 8, 2017, occurred as police were in pursuit of a car carrying suspects from a Lake Bluff armed robbery. The September 11 Lake Forrester article titled “Robbery suspects run into Highland Park police station while fleeing…” discusses the chain of events that led to the car crashing at Richfield Avenue and Deerfield Road.
The second car accident occurred in Volo on Tuesday night, September 12, 2017. It is discussed in the September 15 Northwest Herald article titled “Driver of vehicle stolen from Volo area crashes into semitruck, flees scene.” As discussed in that article, there was a crash in Volo involving a Nissan Altima that had been reported stolen and a semi truck at the intersection of Route 12 and West Molidor Road. The crash investigation indicates that the Nissan Altima ran through the red light before the collision occurred.
Additional details and possible updates concerning these two crashes can be seen in the media sources mentioned above.
