Lake Forest High School Teenagers Hit Head-On During Car Accident

On Sunday morning, May 13, a car carrying two Lake Forest High School students was involved in a head-on collision with another car in Lake Bluff, Illinois.

The two teens were driving home from their prom.

The accident happened at approximately 1:10 a.m. near the intersection of Green Bay and Thorn Valley Roads in Lake Bluff.

The two teens were taken to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently released.

The man in the other car, Rigoberto Cruz, 39, fled the accident scene on foot after his Ford Explorer collided with the car driven by the teens.  Cruz was later located and was charged with a variety of violations including driving under the influence, cocaine possession, driving with a revoked license and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to the Lake Bluff Police Department.  Additional charges are said to be pending.
