Potentially hazardous Lake County driving conditions are expected throughout today (February 20) and possibly into the next few days.
As seen in a variety of media sources, flooding, standing water, ice, fog, and high winds will be present in various areas throughout the day. Already today, heavy rains and an icy mix of rain has been present in Lake County.
The Lake Forest Patch article of today, titled “Update: Snow, Ice Could Make for Messy Thursday Morning Commute” discusses some factors impacting Lake County driving, and potentially increasing the likelihood of vehicle accidents.
Among the four areas of concern in the coming days, according to the Lake Forest Patch article, are:
- heavy snow and ice
- heavy rainfall, which may lead to flooding
- possibly dense fog
- possibly high winds
The DNAInfo.com article of today, titled “Flood Watch in Chicago: Rain, Melting Snow, 60-mph Winds to Hit City” discusses the flood risk in Chicago, which is also applicable to Lake County roads as well.
The Illinois Department of Transportation warning regarding hazardous road conditions resulting from flooding can be seen in the yesterday’s post titled “Warning Concerning Standing Water On Illinois Roads.”
