There have been new charges brought against Carly Rousso, the 18-year-old who drove onto a Highland Park sidewalk on Labor Day, leading to the death of Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento, 5, of Highland Park and injuring her mother and brothers. That accident was summarized in the blog post of September 4, 2012 titled “Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Highland Park, Illinois.”
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Rousso with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence (of an intoxicating compound) and one count of reckless homicide.
According to the September 12 Highland Park Patch story titled “Rousso Charged with Reckless Homicide, Aggravated DUI; Bail Set at $500k.”
Toxicology reports indicate that the compound Difluoroethane was detected in Rousso’s blood, which is found in a commercial cleaning product uncovered in Rousso’s car.
Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources including the Highland Park Patch story mentioned above, as well as the September 12 NBC Chicago story titled “Highland Park Teen Charged With Reckless Homicide.”
