A bicyclist was hit today by a semi-trailer truck in Northbrook, Illinois at the corner of Shermer and Willow Roads.
Deborah Ehrlich, 50, of Northbrook, was bicycling at just before 10 a.m. when the accident occurred. She was said to be wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
According to Northbrook Deputy Fire Chief Ron Schinleber, she appeared to be in good condition upon arrival at the hospital, Advocate Lutheran General.
Northbrook Police say the driver of the truck was Andre Dukes, 44, of Joliet. Mike Shep, Northbrook Police spokesman, said charges are pending against Dukes. Dukes submitted to a blood test at Glenbrook Hospital to determine if he had any alcohol or drugs in his system.
Willow Road was closed for over an hour during the ensuing investigation. An investigation is ongoing, headed by The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force’s Major Crash Assistance Team, which is composed of area police traffic experts.
