One Woman Dead And A Man Injured During Head-On Collision In Unincorporated McHenry County Illinois

A woman is dead and a man injured after a head-on car accident this morning in unincorporated McHenry County, in Northern Illinois.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 7:17 a.m. near the intersection of Tryon Grove and Barnard Mill Roads.

The woman has been identified as Sonia Hume, 38, of Woodstock.  According to police, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man driving the other vehicle has been identified as Luis Ramirez, 22, of Round Lake Beach.  He was reported to be in fair condition at Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

Police said Ramirez’s Ford Expedition was headed west on Tryon Grove;  it went into oncoming traffic as he tried to pass several other vehicles. The Expedition then collided head-on into Hume, heading eastbound in her Mitsubishi Outlander.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts; an investigation is ongoing.
