Traffic Accident Caused By Ice On Route 53 In Palatine, Illinois

Although there has yet to be any measurable snow in the Chicagoland area, an icy roadway has been blamed for a multi-car collision that occurred in Palatine, Illinois on Route 53 at the Northwest Highway on Tuesday morning.

Details on the accident are somewhat limited.  The accident occurred at 4:05 a.m.  Media reports vary with regard to how many vehicles were involved; it appears as if 9 cars and a semi truck were involved.

Two people were taken to local hospitals, both with non-life-threatening injuries.

Slick road conditions, caused by ice, is being blamed for the accident.
