Train Collides With Car In Lake Forest, Illinois

There was a fatal collision between a Metra train and passenger car in Lake Forest, Illinois this afternoon (November 23, 2013).

The accident happened at approximately 1:30 p.m., just to the west of Waukegan Road on Old Mill Road.

An excerpt from the Chicago Tribune article of November 23, 2013 titled “Man dead after car hit by Metra train in Lake Forest” :

Witnesses told investigators that the black sedan was headed east on Old Mill Road when the warning lights and bells were triggered and the gates lowered as the train approached, according to the release. The car went around the lowered gate, continued east and was hit by the train.

Upon collision, the car was pushed south on the tracks for approximately 100 yards.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was found dead by paramedics at the accident scene.
