That Lake County crash, which led to the death of Nancy Siedlecki, 64, of Spring Grove, as well as her 17-month-old grandson, is summarized in the December 19 post titled “Unincorporated Lake Villa Crash Results In Two Fatalities.”
The exact circumstances regarding the crash, its causes, and the party at fault, are being investigated. As seen in various accident scene photos, extensive damage occurred to various vehicles.
The accident investigation of this crash is being conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit. Various aspects of the crash and the investigation are discussed in the December 23, 2019 Lake County News-Sun article titled “Investigation continuing in Lake Villa three-vehicle that killed two…” An excerpt:
Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said Monday that the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit is handling the investigation, which will include an accident reconstruction.
Covelli said the investigation will probably take at least two months to fully complete before authorities review whether any citations should be issued in the crash.
He said one issue being explored is whether the highway grade at the site played any role in the crash, adding that the accident occurred at the top of a crest in the highway grade, possibly limiting visibility by approaching drivers depending on their speed of approach.
Additional details regarding this fatal crash, and the accident investigation, can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
