A Beach Park car collision occurred Saturday (May 2, 2020) evening. This two-vehicle crash injured both drivers. This Beach Park car collision was a “head-on collision.”
This Beach Park car collision is discussed in a variety of media sources, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office media release of May 3 titled “Sheriff’s County Investigators Investigating Pair of Saturday Crashes.“ An excerpt:
At approximately 8:45PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Sheridan Road and Mawman Avenue in Beach Park for a traffic crash with injuries. Preliminary investigation shows a Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 22-year-old male of North Chicago, was traveling southbound on Sheridan Road. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet crossed into the northbound lanes of Sheridan Road, striking a northbound Nissan Rogue, driven by a 37-year-old man of Waukegan, head-on.
Both injured drivers were taken for medical treatment to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan. The driver of the Chevrolet was reported to be in critical condition. The driver of the Rogue suffered only minor injuries.
This Beach Park car collision remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
“Head-on collisions” often lead to serious, if not fatal, accident injuries for all vehicle occupants. There are many reasons as to why these collisions can occur. In some instances, driver distraction leads a vehicle to cross the center line and collide with an oncoming vehicle.
In other instances, a driver is impaired by alcohol use or drug use. This impairment leads the driver to cross the center line and collide with an oncoming vehicle. Alternately, many “wrong-way driver” crashes occur after a drunk driver or drug-impaired driver is traveling in the wrong direction on an expressway or highway and collides “head on” with a vehicle traveling properly.
Additional discussion concerning “head-on” collisions can be seen on the “Accidents Involving ‘Head-On Collisions’” page.
