Preliminary investigation shows the Chevrolet, driven by a 23-year-old male of Waukegan, was travelling southbound on Sheridan Road. A witness reported the driver was travelling excessively fast. As the vehicle traveled southbound, the driver lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic, and then drove off the roadway and struck a utility pole and several trees.
The Corvette sustained substantial damage during this Beach Park car crash. A 27-year-old female passenger from Waukegan was found near the car. She was critically injured and flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of her injuries. Those injuries were considered to be life-threatening in nature.
