A Beach Park traffic accident led to a fatality early Sunday (May 12, 2019) morning. This Beach Park traffic accident was a single-vehicle crash. The reason for the crash does not appear to be publicly disclosed at this time; the accident remains under investigation.
According to information provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Deputies were sent to the accident scene, which was in the area of Green Bay Road and Kenosha Road, at approximately 2:30 a.m. This Beach Park traffic accident involved a 2014 Nissan Altima that struck a building (the Benton Township Assessor’s building) at 40020 N. Green Bay Road.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Nissan, a 36-year-old male of Chicago, was traveling southwest on Kenosha Road. As the driver approached Green Bay Road (controlled by a stop sign), the driver didn’t stop, crossed Green Bay Road, struck an embankment, and then struck the Benton Township Assessor’s Office.
A backseat passenger, a 23-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has yet to be publicly disclosed.
The driver of the Altima was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, with critical injuries that were considered to be life-threatening in nature. The front seat passenger, identified as a 23-year-old male from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, was taken to Vista East Medical Center for medical treatment of injuries considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.
This Beach Park traffic accident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
