Rollover crashes are among the most serious types of vehicle accidents. Due to many factors, including the high physical forces exerted on vehicle occupants, these rollover crashes often result in serious accident injuries. Various characteristics of vehicle rollover accidents, including their various causes and characteristics, are discussed on the “Lake County Rollover Accidents” page. As discussed on that page, in crashes of this type in which the vehicle occupants are not wearing seat belts, there is an increased risk of serious accident injuries as the vehicle occupants are vulnerable to be ejected (i.e. thrown from) the vehicle.
There was a SUV rollover accident early Saturday (February 2, 2019) morning in Lake Zurich. The incident, with video of the actual accident, is discussed in the February 6, 2019 Chicago Tribune article titled “Rollover crash caught on dashcam leads to DUI charge: Lake Zurich police.”
As discussed in the article, the crash occurred on U.S. Route 12, and appears to involve a loss of vehicle control. The driver was hospitalized after the crash.
An excerpt from the article concerning the charges faced by the driver,
Adam Babczak, 21, of Des Plaines:
After his release from the hospital, Lake Zurich police said, Babczak was cited with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage, failure to signal, illegal transportation of an open alcoholic beverage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to wear a safety belt.
The accident remains under investigation.
Additional discussion concerning rollover crashes and the potential for injuries, as well as additional details and possible updates concerning the Lake Zurich rollover crash highlighted, can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
