Fatal Waukegan Pedestrian Accident Along Grand Avenue

There was a fatal Waukegan pedestrian accident Sunday (February 3, 2019) evening. The accident was a “hit & run,” i.e. the vehicle that hit the man left the accident scene.

This fatal Waukegan pedestrian accident occurred along Grand Avenue.

An excerpt regarding the crash, from the February 3 ,2019 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Man fatally struck by vehicle in Waukegan hit-and-run“:

Police were called about a person lying in the street about 11:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Grand Avenue, according to Waukegan Police Cmdr. Joe Florip.

Officers arrived to find a 38-year-old man who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, Florip said. He had apparently been near the curb in the eastbound lane when he was hit.

As is often the case when a person is hit by a vehicle the man’s injuries were severe. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, where he was later pronounced dead. Later, the man was identified as Christopher Harris, 22, of Waukegan.

This fatal Waukegan pedestrian accident is being investigated by the Waukegan Police Department’s Major Traffic Crash Unit. Those with information concerning the crash are asked to call Sgt. Roush at 847-599-2630.

Waukegan Township Pedestrian Accident Results In Fatality

There was a fatal Waukegan Township pedestrian accident Saturday (December 1, 2018) night.  The accident was a “hit & run” crash in which the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian fled the accident scene.

According to information provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, in a December 2, 2018 media release titled “Fatal Waukegan Township Hit-And-Run Traffic Crash” Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the accident scene of this fatal Waukegan Township pedestrian accident at approximately 6:45 p.m.  The accident scene was in the area of West Crescent Avenue and Northern Avenue.

An excerpt from the media release:

Preliminary information shows a pedestrian, a 63-year-old man of Waukegan Township, was struck by a vehicle as he was walking on Crescent Avenue, just east of Northern Avenue.  The driver of the striking vehicle then fled the scene.  The man was located in the front yard of a residence in the 12400 block of West Crescent Avenue.  He was subsequently transported to Vista East Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The deceased pedestrian was later identified as Robert Barron.  An autopsy revealed that he died from blunt force trauma injuries sustained during the accident.

This fatal Waukegan Township pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.

Libertyville Pedestrian Accident In Which Car Hit 10-Year-Old Boy

There was a Libertyville pedestrian accident that was a “hit & run” Wednesday (Halloween) night.  This accident involved a car hitting a 10-year-old boy.

According to police, this Libertyville pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Pond Ridge Road.  At that time, a speeding car jumped a curb, struck a mailbox, and then hit the boy.  The driver then fled the accident scene.

The boy was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for medical treatment.

The driver of the car has yet to be apprehended.  An excerpt from the November 1, 2018 Daily Herald article titled “Hit-and-run driver strikes trick-or-treater in Libertyville“:

Police are seeking help locating the vehicle and its driver. The vehicle was described as gray Nissan or Lexus four-door sedan with tinted windows. The vehicle was damaged on the front passenger’s sided.

Waukegan Fatal Pedestrian Accident Involving “Hit & Run”

There was a Waukegan fatal pedestrian accident that was a “hit & run.”  The pedestrian’s body was found in downtown Waukegan early Friday (October 12, 2018) morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Washington and Genesee streets at 5:30 a.m. for a report of a person in the road, Waukegan Police said in a news release.

Police found a man in his 40s. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Arrest Made In Fatal Zion Accident Involving “Hit & Run”

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal Zion accident that happened on October 21, 2017.  It was a “hit & run” in which a car struck two pedestrians, killing one of them.  That original accident was discussed in the “Fatal Zion Hit & Run Accident” post of October 23, 2017.

According to information provided by the Zion Police Department, the accident happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Green Bay Road, south of 9th Street.  The accident involved a silver or grey Chrysler Sebring that struck two men, killing one of them.  The other man was treated for his accident injuries at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan and then released.

An excerpt regarding the arrest, from the March 20, 2018 Lake County News-Sun article titled “Zion police charge Wisconsin man in fatal Green Bay Road hit-and-run from October 2017“:

Zion police announced in a statement Tuesday that Dennis C. Russell Jr., 34, of Kenosha, Wis., was taken into custody at his residence on 75th Street in Kenosha on an outstanding warrant for failure to report an accident involving death and failure to report an accident involving personal injury, both of which are felonies.
