A car was struck by a Metra train in Barrington Hills on Wednesday night, September 27, 2017.
According to information provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted at 7:25 p.m. regarding the collision, which happened near the railroad crossing at Route 14 and Kelsey Road.
An excerpt regarding the crash, quoting Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli, as seen in the September 28, 2017 Northwest Herald article titled “Barrington man in critical condition after Metra strikes car in Barrington Hills“:
Covelli said that the driver of the car was outside of the vehicle when the outbound train collided with the car. The victim was subsequently struck by his own car. The car had been about 100 feet southeast of the crossing when the train struck, which is not somewhere a vehicle should – or would – typically be, Covelli said.
Additional details regarding the collision can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the Northwest Herald article mentioned above, as well as the September 28 Crystal Lake Patch article titled “1 In Critical Condition After Metra Train Hits Car On Tracks.”
