Waukegan police reported Saturday that officers were dispatched around 10:45 p.m. Thursday to the vicinity of Jackson and 8th streets for a report of a bike rider being struck by a vehicle. The report added that arriving officers discovered the victim was dead on the street.
According to a police statement, investigators subsequently located a silver 2006 Cadillac SUV “which is believed to be the offending vehicle.”
“Investigators believe that the victim was riding his bike on Jackson Street at 8th Street when he was struck by the suspect vehicle, which was (traveling) southbound,” the statement added. “Investigators are following up on numerous leads and information will be released as it is available. “
