There was a fatal crash Sunday night (June 7, 2015) on the Tri-State Tollway (I-94) near Lincolnshire.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident happened at approximately 10:15 p.m., as a 2002 Ford Explorer, traveling eastbound near the Half Day Road exit, had a tire blowout.  After the blowout, the driver lost control and struck the right guardrail.

At the time of the accident, eight people were in the SUV.  Three people, including a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl, and 8-year-old boy, were ejected from the vehicle.  The 14-year-old girl was then struck by a semi truck.  She was declared dead at the accident scene by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
