There was a fatal crash Sunday night (June 7, 2015) on the Tri-State Tollway (I-94) near Lincolnshire.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident happened at approximately 10:15 p.m., as a 2002 Ford Explorer, traveling eastbound near the Half Day Road exit, had a tire blowout. After the blowout, the driver lost control and struck the right guardrail.
At the time of the accident, eight people were in the SUV. Three people, including a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl, and 8-year-old boy, were ejected from the vehicle. The 14-year-old girl was then struck by a semi truck. She was declared dead at the accident scene by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The seven other people were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and Lake Forest Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries.
