Fatal Metra Train Accident In Deerfield, Illinois

There was a fatal train accident Tuesday afternoon (June 2, 2015) in Deerfield, Illinois.

The accident happened at approximately 2:00 p.m., north of the Deerfield station.  According to Deerfield Police,  at that time, a Metra Train (inbound Train 366) struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the tracks and “beat the train.”

According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the pedestrian was identified as an 80-year-old woman from Libertyville.  She was dead at the accident scene.
