Fatal Motorcycle Accident Near Antioch

There was a Lake County fatal motorcycle accident early Wednesday morning (August 26, 2015) on Route 173 near Antioch.  The accident is considered a hit & run accident.

The accident happened at approximately 4:00 a.m., on Route 173 near North Linden Lane.

The motorcyclist was identified as Gregory Boyes, 50, of Antioch.  He died shortly after the crash.

Although the Lake County Sheriff’s Office initially thought that he lost control while attempting to make a turn, upon further investigation it was determined a second vehicle was involved in the crash.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., a woman from unincorporated Antioch, Leena A. Ultsch, 34, contracted police and said she collided with the motorcycle and left the scene without reporting the incident.

An excerpt from the Daily Herald article of August 27, 2015, titled “Prosecutors:  Antioch-area woman said she drank wine before fatal motorcycle crash“:

Ultsch told police she left the scene because she was scared, authorities said.
