There was a pedestrian accident in Highland Park, Illinois on Monday (September 3, 2012) that led to the death of a 5-year-old girl.
The girl, who was later pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital, has been identified as Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento, 5, of Highland Park.
The accident happened as the girl, mother and two brothers were walking on the sidewalk along the north side of Central Avenue in downtown Highland Park at approximately 2:30 p.m. The family was struck by a car driven by an 18-year-old female resident of Highland Park whose car drove onto the sidewalk.
The mother of the girl and her two brothers were also injured during the accident.
The driver of the car was treated and released from a local hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
