This fatal Volo crash is discussed in a number of media sources, including the July 31, 2019 Lake County Sheriff’s Office media release titled “Fatal Volo Traffic Crash.”
An excerpt from the release:
On July 31, 2019, at approximately 7:15AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a rollover traffic with injuries on Route 12, north of Case Road, Volo. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found the driver sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2000 GMC pickup truck, carrying a sealcoating tank, driven by an 18-year-old female of Volo, was traveling northbound on Route 12, north of Case Road. As the pickup truck traveled north, the driver of the vehicle for an unknown reason drove off the east side of the roadway. She then overcorrected, likely causing the vehicle to roll. She wasn’t wearing her seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger in the truck, identified as a 18-year-old female from Wauconda, was injured. Her injuries were considered to be minor in nature. She was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in unincorporated Barrington for treatment of her accident injuries. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The accident investigation is being conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
