A fatal Waukegan pedestrian accident occurred early Wednesday (January 29, 2020) evening. This fatal Waukegan pedestrian accident was a “hit & run” accident; the vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the accident scene.
This “hit & run” is discussed in a variety of media sources, including the January 31, 2020 Grayslake Patch article titled “Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run In Waukegan.”
A woman is dead following a hit-and-run collision that happened Wednesday evening in Waukegan. Police say a Zion woman in her 40s was killed in the collision, which occurred at about 5:40 p.m. in the area of Sheridan Road and Greenwood Avenue, according to a post on the Waukegan Police Department Facebook page.
A woman was found lying in the roadway at the accident scene.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police believe that prior to this fatal Waukegan pedestrian accident, the woman was walking south along Sheridan Road when she was hit. The vehicle that hit her is unknown; however, it may have been a dark-colored SUV.
An autopsy later identified the deceased woman as Jenny Gaston, 45, of Zion. The Lake County Coroner’s Office said she died of multiple blunt force injuries. Those injuries were consistent with injuries that occur when a vehicle hits a person.
Those with information concerning this accident are asked to contact the Waukegan Police Department Traffic Division at 847-599-2630.
