A Gurnee Route 41 crash resulted in a fatality on Monday, February 10, 2020. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi Endeavor, was said to be previously involved in another crash. The driver of the Endeavor reportedly fled that accident scene before crashing on Route 41.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the 70-year-old woman killed in a crash on Route 41 in Gurnee this past week. Jolanta Kubala of Wadsworth was driving a Mitsubishi Endeavor south on Route 41 at Route 21 when the vehicle ran into a semi truck, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Just moments before the fatal collision at 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 10, the Mitsibushi was involved in a hit-and-run collision near Fuller Road and Stearns School Road, authorities said. In that crash, the Mitsibushi ran into the back of a 2008 Nissan carryall.
In addition to the fatal injuries suffered by Jolanta Kubala, the semi truck driver and (from the first accident) the driver of the Nissan were also injured and hospitalized. Their injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.
This Gurnee Route 41 crash remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT.)
