A high-speed crash in Round Lake Beach, which was a “head-on collision,” occurred late Sunday (July 14, 2019) night. This high-speed crash critically injured two drivers.
Details regarding the cause of the crash and other details are somewhat limited at this time. However, police say that one driver was charged with DUI following the accident.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on the 100 block of East Rollins Road, police said.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles after one vehicle caught fire.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment of their accident injuries. Both drivers were in critical condition.
One vehicle was a pickup truck and one was a sedan.

Rescuers on arrival discovered both drivers still inside their vehicles and one vehicle was on fire. Both drivers were extricated by Round Lake FPD firefighter/paramedics and were transported to nearby hospital(s) that were not initially specified by police. The passenger compartment of the pickup truck was severely compressed, and both vehicles were severely damaged. Both drivers were listed in extremely critical condition at the hospital(s). There were no additional passengers.
