An excerpt:

A driver was hospitalized after authorities say a utility vehicle rolled over and he became pinned underneath it in Lake Forest on Tuesday.

The Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Forest Fire Department responded around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Sheridan Road and Ringwood Road for a report of a crash with injuries.

Lake Forest Deputy Fire Chief Michael Gallo told Lake and McHenry County Scanner the crash involved a utility terrain vehicle (UTV).

A man was driving the UTV when it overturned due to slick conditions, trapping the man’s legs underneath.

After being extricated from underneath the vehicle, the man was taken to the hospital. His injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

Additional details and possible updates concerning this Lake Forest vehicle rollover accident can be seen in the article mentioned above.

Vehicle rollover accidents can happen in a variety of settings. However, there are a common set of factors that, if present, often precede a rollover. Additional discussion of vehicle rollover accidents and injuries can be seen on the “Lake County Rollover Accidents” page.

As mentioned on that page, such accidents can be especially harmful to vehicle occupants if they are not restrained at the time of the accident. If they are not restrained by seat belts the occupants can be forcefully thrown inside of the vehicle. As well, unrestrained occupants can be ejected (i.e. partially or fully thrown from) the vehicle, which often leads to serious accident injuries.
