Unincorporated Cary Traffic Crash Seriously Injures Driver

An unincorporated Cary traffic crash occurred on the evening of February 28, 2019. This unincorporated traffic crash appears to have involved a loss of vehicle control, resulting in a SUV crashing into a tree.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in a March 1, 2019 media release titled “Serious Unincorporated Cary Traffic Crash,” Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the accident scene at 10:50 p.m. The crash occurred in the vicinity of West Fox River Road and West Short Street.

An excerpt from the release:

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a single-vehicle (2013 Toyota Highlander), which struck a tree.  The Toyota sustained significant damage and the driver, a 57-year-old man of McHenry, was entrapped inside the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation shows the man was traveling eastbound on Fox River Road, when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.  Due to the serious damage, it took over an hour for the man to be extricated from the vehicle.

After extrication, the driver was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of his accident injuries. His injuries are considered to be serious in nature, although not life-threatening.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
