A fatal unincorporated Gurnee car crash occurred early Friday (August 9, 2019) morning. This unincorporated Gurnee car crash was a single-vehicle accident.

On August 9, 2019, at approximately 1:30AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Route 41 north of Kilbourne Road, Unincorporated Gurnee, for a traffic crash with injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and were assisted by Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department. A 2001 Jaguar X was located in the trees, east of the roadway, with heavy damage.
Preliminary investigation shows the Jaguar, driven by a 41-year-old man of Waukegan, was traveling northbound on Route 41, just north of Kilbourne Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and the Jaguar went off the roadway, striking at least one tree.
A 28-year-old male passenger from Beach Park was declared dead at the accident scene. The driver of the car was seriously injured and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of accident injuries.
The accident investigation is being conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
