A Wadsworth traffic accident occurred on Saturday (February 9, 2019) evening. This Wadsworth traffic accident was a “head-on collision” that led to the death of one driver and two other vehicle occupants were seriously injured.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in a February 10, 2019 media release titled “Fatal Wadsworth Traffic Crash,” the “head-on collision” occurred on Delaney Road, just south of Wadsworth Road. Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputies began to go to the accident scene at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 17-year-old female of Zion, was traveling northbound on Delany Road. A 2007 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by a 55-year-old male of Beach Park was traveling southbound on Delany Road. Based on preliminary information at this time, it appears the driver of the Hyundai crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes of traffic. The Chrysler and Hyundai struck head-on in the southbound lanes.
The driver of the Chrsyler was taken to Vista East Hospital in Waukegan and was subsequently pronounced dead.
Another occupant in the Chrysler, a 32-year-old man, was also taken to Vista East Hospital for medical treatment of serious accident injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of her accident injuries. These injuries were considered to be serious injuries.
An autopsy has been scheduled by the Lake County Coroner’s Office for the driver of the Chrysler.
This Wadsworth traffic accident investigation continues and is being conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
