A Waukegan head-on crash occurred late Thursday (August 20, 2020) evening. This Waukegan head-on crash led to one fatality and two people being seriously injured. The accident scene was in the vicinity of Lewis Avenue and Brookside Avenue.
First responders, including the Waukegan fire and police departments, first went to the accident scene around 11:00 p.m.

Officers located a serious crash involving a red 2008 Dodge hatchback and a black 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to Waukegan Police Commander Joe Florip.
Investigators believe the Dodge was traveling southbound on Lewis Avenue at Brookside Avenue when it crossed the center line and struck the Jeep, which was traveling northbound.
The Dodge was driven by a Waukegan woman in her 30s and a Waukegan woman in her 20s was sitting in the front passenger seat.
The passenger of the Dodge was declared dead after being taken to the hospital. The driver of the Dodge was hospitalized with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.
The driver of the Jeep, a man in his 20s, was injured and taken to the hospitalized.
A 4-year-old boy in the Jeep was not injured.
Seat belts were not worn by either of the Jeep’s occupants.
