This fatal traffic incident is discussed in a variety of media sources, including the October 24, 2020 Lake & McHenry County Scanner article titled “Authorities identify 36-year-old man killed in t-bone crash in Waukegan.” An excerpt:
Waukegan Police Department Cmdr. Edgar Navarro said that a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling northbound on Green Bay Road attempting to cross the intersection at Grand Avenue.
A 2011 Jeep Liberty, which was traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue, was also in the intersection and both cars collided with each other.
Two people were in the Jeep. The passenger, identified as Daniel Rodriquez-Bazan, 36, Waukegan, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he passed. A subsequent autopsy revealed that he died as a result of blunt force injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, a woman in her 40s from Waukegan, was seriously injured and hospitalized.
Both of the occupants of the Jeep were believed to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a man in his 20s who was the only vehicle occupant, was seriously injured in the collision. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.
Another excerpt from the article:
Speed was the main contributor to the crash and investigators are attempting to determine which vehicle proceeded through the intersection against the stoplight, Navarro said.
Toxicology reports are pending on both drivers, police said, adding that no citations have been issued yet.
